IBAA Members Attend 2012 Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas

Digital Signage Expo® (DSE), Is the world largest and longest running international trade show dedicated to digital signage, interactive technology, and Out-of-Home networks. This years was the DSE’s ninth show and was held March 6 -9th at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The show shattered previous records, set a new attendance milestone and reinforced DSE’s position as the digital signage industry’s preeminent show. Close to 180 exhibitors featured technology and services including hardware, software, network, delivery and content from around the globe. DSE also offered the largest and most diversified digital signage and digital out-of-home educational program anywhere in the world, with more than 100 educators and the largest variety of educational opportunities, including a live installation tour and structured curriculum leading to professional re-certification in eight educational tracks. The 2012 program was comprised of 13 pre- and post-show educational events, 32 seminars, 40 targeted Industry Vertical Discussion Groups and over 42 free presentations staged in three on-floor theaters.

Ruben Garcia with JohnnyBoards Indoor advertising (New Mexico) and Hugh Jolly with Graffiti Indoor Advertising (Tennessee) attended on behalf of the (IBAA) Indoor Billboard Advertising Association. Attending a few workshops solidified our understanding that although building digital networks supported only by advertising has some challenges there are some “lessons learned “ that we can share as vendors continue to reload and shoot for advertising dollars using digital. Growth digital signage in the retail and restaurant (menu signage) market has promise and was a key focus of this year’s show. The IBAA will continue to monitor the digital signage growth and how our network of indoor advertiser’s can help vendors grow and flourish with our help.

Ruben and Hugh also met offline with a few vendors who already see the value of using our network and hope to have them and many others present at our national conference in Las Vegas. There are vendors who offer unique hardware , software and products that are in their infancy and could benefit from our leadership since most of our IBAA members are the market leaders in their areas and in most cases have over 15 years of experience and key relationships, with restaurants, night clubs, sports bars and local government . Many issues we have already faced and resolved will serve any of our vendors and partners.
